Temperance (temperantia in Latin) moderates the attraction of sensual pleasures and enables balance in the use of material things. Temperance proves to be the binding force of the other three virtues.

Prayers and complicity, ardour and intimacy intertwine in the room of whispers. The room gives onto the lovely garden, the hortus conclusus where grandmother Antonietta Bertagni loved to read Baudelaire in a whisper.
Body and spirit can be reunited in the bathroom, covered in bubbles and Baroque gestures embellished with Maori suggestions. Lavender and red symbolize the union between the sacred and the profane.

ETERNAL BALANCE

Justice (iustitia in Latin) consists in the constant and firm will to give God and neighbor their due.

Dynamic and stimulating, The Tree of Life by Davide Sabbatini speaks with aerial neoclassical figures. Imagination takes flight here, dominated by a sense of equilibrium that does justice to the chromatic tension. The table dates to the 1940s and was once used in grandfather Pietro’s chemistry lab. Blue embodies serenity and ideals, while orange creativity and vitality, their combination represents life.

POWER OF PASSION

Fortitude (fortitudo in Latin) ensures, in difficulties, firmness and constancy in the pursuit of good, the courage to move forward at any cost, without being overcome by laziness, cowardice, or fear.

This is the den of the warrior, dominated by an impressive vintage gold-leaf fireplace and mantelpiece from the main office of great-grandfather Ferdinando Bertagni, industry captain, who founded the pasta factory of the same name with his brother Oreste. Their leading product was the famous Bolognese tortellini, designed to represent the bellybutton of Venus. The combination of brown tones, representing the earth and the material world, and gold, representing the spirit, symoolizes strength applied to productivity.

INVISIBLE KNOWLEDGE

Faith refers to one who trusts, who confides, who relies, whose conviction is firm. In Greek, the word faith can also mean “faithfulness”.

The pure sensitivity of blue meets the whiteness of white. As on a snow-covered peak the ancient wooden skis of Pietro and Antonietta Bertagni stand out. A restful and relaxing place where transparency and mystery coexist.

CREATIVE PASSION

Hope is the confident expectation of a desired good. Hope transforms us deeply. Karl Jaspers asserts that “if we are given anxiety, then we have the foundation of hope”.

Gold and red dominate this room conveying a sense of energy, vitality and abundance.
In this room, the artist Davide Sabbatini has used laces and fabrics from the Bertagni House from the 1700s to date to decorate the panels of the large wardrobe.

HEAVENLY TENDERNESS

Charity derives from Latin caritas (benevolence, affection, noun from carus, meaning dear, beloved, imitating the Greek charis, meaning grace) the term “charity” represents love towards others.
